Protec Supply 1000G Polythene for Eid in the Park 2016
Eid Mubarak!
Protec were recently approached by the organisers of Eid in the Park 2016, one of the biggest Eid gatherings in the UK and Europe. During the event up to 100,000 people perform the outdoor Eid prayer according to Islamic teachings, outside as a group. The brief given to us was to investigate a few possible solutions for creating a safe, dry space to be used for the prayer area. We suggested using the 1000 Gauge Polythene due to its durability, as well as being damp proof (BBA Approved Damp Proof Membrane (DPM))
With such a high footfall in Small Health Park in Birmingham, a mostly grassy area, there was potential for the ground to become wet and muddy and begin to tear up.
‘Our Brief was to supply and lay prayer mats for up to 100,000 people to pray on I chose 1000g DPC polythene as it is thick and durable. The quality of the product was far better than I ever expected, and my customer was over the moon. The thickness of the product, the weight of the product was excellent thus avoiding wind getting under it and cause it to lift. It saved everyone getting wet. The staff at Protec, were great, very understanding as they had never had their product used as prayer mats before. A Great Day, a Great Product and a Caring Company.’

The benefits of the 1000G Polythene is the extreme durability, along with being damp and water proof. The polythene supplied to the organisers of Eid in the Park is manufactured from recycled materials and can be recycled again.
