In many respects having such a large selection of adhesive tapes within the Protec product range can be hugely advantageous in that there is literally a tape for any job. Over the many years that Protec have been trading the range of tapes stocked has increased to meet the changing needs of sites, the differing materials used in construction and the levels of adhesion required to adhere effectively.
For a large part Protec General Purpose Jointing Tape 50mm x 66m has always been a staple of the temporary protection industry. As a general purpose tape it is similar to a packaging tape in that it is designed to be applied to temporary protection materials only (not to be applied to finished surfaces) as it is a medium tack tape. A great product to use when securing Protec Flooring as it works particularly well with card and plastic based protection materials.
Protec Cloth Tape, also known as “Gaffa Tape” or “Tough Tape” is an extremely strong and high tack adhesive tape that Protec stock in three widths 50mm, 75mm and 100mm. This tape is particularly versatile in the way that it can be ripped from the roll instead of cutting with a knife or scissors and will stick protection securely together or to an unfinished surface such as concrete.
In some circumstances a tape is required that will not leave residue or present a risk of damaging a finished surface when removed. In order to provide a taping solution to this type of application Protec has developed a number of specialty Low adhesive tapes. The most common Low Tack supplied by Protec is the White Low Tack Tape 50mm x 33m which is a smooth PVC tape with a low adhesion to allow it’s use on a variety of finished surfaces for a period of up to four weeks. In situations where an even more delicate Low Tack Tape is required, for instance in the case of Powder Coated Aluminium doors or windows Protec have the “Black Ultra Low Tack Tape” 50mm x 100m which is tested and cleared for use on these surfaces. The Ultra Low Tack is extremely low adhesive so is great for any really delicate surface and provides a safer method of securing protection and masking areas off compared to the conventional White Low Tack Tape.
Double sided Tape is a product that Protec developed off the back of industry demand for a method of fixing protection in areas where the tape needed to be either hidden behind the protection or provided a better method of holding the protection in place by being underneath it rather than at the sides. The Protec Duo Tape offers a double sided tape with low Tack one side/High Tack on the other side thus allowing protection to be stuck to finished surfaces securely whilst reducing the risk of damage when removing the tape.
Additional tapes in the product range include Silver Foil Tape, Masking Tape, Flame Retardant Grey Medium Tack Tape and Masking Tape. Protec can also offer a range of Tape Applicators to be used with the Protec Tapes in 50mm, 75mm and 100mm which can save time installing the protection by speeding the application of tape up.
If there is a particular application that you are considering and you are unsure about which tape is the most appropriate to use a call through to the Customer Services team at Protec will provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision on the best tape for the job.
