Temporary Floor Protection for Carpets - Flame Retardant LPS 1207
Protec International Stock a wide range of floor protection materials for use on site (commercial, industrial or residential) or at home. We have all forms of floor covered whether its hard wood, vinyl, ceramic, carpets etc.
Whith large commercial, industrial or housing builds, for insurance purposes, fire retardancy is often a big factor when it comes to the need of temporary floor protection. Protec International have the largest range of FR materials which meet the accreditation of LPS 1207, the UK’s standard in flame retardnacy for temporaray protection materials. We will be conducting a series of blog posts on the ideal products for protecting floors during builds which also meet flame retardant requirements and our first will be on the application of carpets.
Carpetshield®FR is a floor protection film specifically for carpets, used to protect newly laid surfaces from spillages, debris and heavy foot traffic in areas where building work is still in progress. It has a low tack adhesive backing that sticks to the carpet pile without the need for taping and prevents any shifting, slipping or leakage. Its non-slip surface is ideal for quick and effective floor protection of carpeted walkways, corridors, and stairways.
The lightweight rolls are reverse wound and quickly applied by kicking the roll across the floor. After use, the carpet protection film peels away without leaving any residue.
Here are some reviews of the product which have been left on our website which you can also find on the product page, here.
Guaranteed First Class Protection
by Peter Williams, 15 Dec 2011
Usage: Protecting domestic carpets during decorating operations. Providing a medium term (max 4 weeks) covering for walked areas (hallways and adjacent to external entry doors) against dirty footwear during interior building work.
Opinion: A very easy to use product that provided comprehensive protection to domestic carpets during decorating and building operations. Significally, tradesmen who had not encountered such a product on other building jobs were very impressed by the convenience and efficiency
A walk in the park
by Bryan D, 31 Oct 2011
Usage: To protect office carpets during redecorations
Opinion: Having used many types of carpet protectors over the years, we were keen to try this one. So easy to use, rolls out better than other brands, a walk in the park compared to some. Being Flame Retardant too was another big plus. Removed very easily with no residue left. A must if you need to protect carpets.

I recently had to repair the exhaust on my Piaggio Scooter. It was becoming increasingly noisy as holes developed in the exhaust silencer box. I first had to remove the exhaust manifold and unbolt the silencer box.
Once this had been removed the full extent of the problem was there to behold. The exhaust had rusted through in several places. I would first have to cut the rusted sections out using a Grinder and then replace them with Stainless Steel plating. Continue reading →
The progression of Health & Safety practices in recent years has seen a reduction in accidents and mortalities on construction sites. Through increased awareness and improved working practices the standard of health and safety has improved across most aspects of construction work in areas such as personnel, PPE, tools and equipment.
At Protec we feel that the increased use of temporary protection materials has also contributed to safer and healthier working environments through protection products that raise awareness, protect hazards and act as alternatives to some traditional protection that may inadvertently prove dangerous.
One of the main areas that protection materials have contributed toward health and safety is through the development of tested and certificated LPS1207 Flame Retardant products through the Joint Code of Practice under the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB). Continue reading →
We were contacted by a shooting club in Surrey for some flame retardant Protection material for the internal timber frames of their shooting gallery.
The club was looking to wrap the timber frames with Proplex FR Rolls 1.22m x 50m and staple them into place. Some of the guns they use are muskets and other older guns with gun-powder, flint and ignition actions, which can create a spark.
The Proplex roll was suitable because its Flame Retardant to LPS1207, can be stapled in place and cut easily and it provides some impact protection.
The lightweight material is much easier and less labour intensive to handle than other rigid protective boards and the large 1.5m x 100m rolls allow for large areas to be protected without the need of cutting, jointing. Continue reading →
