Protec are proud to offer an extensive range of temporary protection materials that can actually be branded with a bespoke company logo or message. The benefits of own branded protection material are extensive and focus greatly on both identification of who the protection materials belong to and also as a brilliant method of advertising your company and what it’s doing on site.
The range of products that can be branded encompass every aspect of protection on site from scaffold sheeting through to tape, floor protection to door sleeves and Stair Treads to Sanitary ware.
In recent years the scale of DIY projects has increased on every level from small projects in the home to larger self build initiatives and whilst the complexity of projects has changed with more advanced tools, materials and working practices many house holders are now following the example of contractors by also investing in temporary protection.
Traditionally Protec have catered specifically to trade contractors and the range of products supplied has reflected this with large format protection rolls, own branding and an extensive range of protection products for a multitude of applications. From these origins products have been created to cater for various bespoke site requirements and it is through this that many house holders have found their way to Protec whether through seeing the Protec branding on protection materials used in their home by contractors or through a visit to the Protec website.
The progression of Health & Safety practices in recent years has seen a reduction in accidents and mortalities on construction sites. Through increased awareness and improved working practices the standard of health and safety has improved across most aspects of construction work in areas such as personnel, PPE, tools and equipment.
At Protec we feel that the increased use of temporary protection materials has also contributed to safer and healthier working environments through protection products that raise awareness, protect hazards and act as alternatives to some traditional protection that may inadvertently prove dangerous.
One of the main areas that protection materials have contributed toward health and safety is through the development of tested and certificated LPS1207 Flame Retardant products through the Joint Code of Practice under the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB).
Previous Protec blogs have already covered winter weather and snow but only in general detail, in light of increasing snow risk and plunging temperatures it may be of value to consider some specific protection solutions against snow.
“Know you enemy” is perhaps a little strong when assessing the impact of snow on your construction site but is none the less a valid point. Snow, unlike rain, sleet or hail is an insidious type of weather that can sneak in over night and completely disrupt works on site through its depth and frequency, extra work is required to dig the site clear and man hours are consequently lost. Snow, aided by the wind, is also a nuisance in the way that it can be blown in through openings, melts through the subsequent thaw and then you potentially have the risk of water damage to finished floors.
When installing new air conditioning units or maintaining existing ones there is often a need to screen the area. This is because they are often required in live office environments or computer rooms. It is important to screen expensive computer equipment from any dust and the same as for people in an office.
Zipwall Temporary Screening is ideal as you can easily screen an area in minutes and re-use the product. Also it creates a professional look for your company.
Create that dust free environment with Zipwall to minimise dust contamination and cleanup costs.
A model airplane company has contacted Protec as they are very interested in using Proplex for their model aircrafts.
These are no small planes some of them can be 20ft long. Proplex is appealing as it can be laser cut and is light weight and very strong – Perfect for the job! Used in conjunction with light weight timber it sounds like a great match.

The recently laid new floor and custom made carpet are your pride and joy but you now face a dilemma with the Christmas party season upon us in the desire entertain friends and family versus your pride in your house and fear of damage to your floors.
Protec have spent many years developing our floor protection range to suit a multitude of applications including protecting floors in occupied homes during parties (at Christmas or otherwise). By using Protec floor protection you can guarantee that accidental spills and breakages are contained with the additional benefit of speeding up the cleaning process when it comes to rolling up the protection the next day.
During the winter months damage caused by frost can add additional complications to the most organised construction site and it is from this perspective that Protec are proud to stock and supply Protec Hessian.
Protec Hessian is one of the most effective forms of frost protection that you can buy and unlike similar products is, in many instances, a more economic option to use for a wide range of frost protection applications.
Frost damage on site can affect works and materials in many different ways and two of the most significant problems are highlighted below along with the benefits that using Protec Hessian brings:
Edge protection on site can be used in all aspects of the build from kitchen worktops, bathrooms and the edges of walls. Protec offer three main types of Edge protection in the form of Rigid Edge (a rigid cardboard material 2m in length), the Flexible Edge Protector (a flexible 2m closed cell foam length) and the Edge Protector FR (a flame retardant polypropylene 1.5m length).
Protecting doors from damage can be a time consuming activity that often falls short of the total protection required to ensure that damage is prevented. Many different types of material have been suggested for use in protecting doors such as bubble wrap, corrugated card and cotton dust sheets which whilst effective to a point often obstruct work around the doors due to poor fitting of the protection. At Protec we have numerous protection materials designed specifically for use in door protection and by using them together a total door protection solution is provided.
